what was once there

When one’s  daily life is so contained in a highly urbanized environment, the simple view of farm lands from an airplane window powerfully refreshes. I remember the boyhood, the trees and the rivers, the fields and the animals, and wonder how I left all these for what I was taught as progress. Then, I turn around and it is not there anymore, not for me anyway, because of the change and the years in between. I hope that others who still have an opportunity that I once had will appreciate what is there now for them before jumping into a bandwagon mindlessly.
