I was so sure, then, that the sight of children coloring pictures is a common one. Or, I’m not really sure anymore, or at least I’m not so sure if it is really common. If most families in the Philippines are poor, their children most probably do not have coloring books or crayons. And surely do not wear pajamas in their shanties – unless used ones given as relief goods after a disaster.
This sight remains beautiful, though. If we can only see the face of this child, I believe we can see wonder and enjoyment. That is beautiful, and natural, isn’t it?
As we say our goodnight prayers, or even just send our wishes to the stars above, may it be for the children of the poor, that they, too, find wonder and enjoyment.
