Irresistible Power

There is something about power that quickly moves to delude the person in temporary possession of it. Of course, the longer power is possessed by an individual, the delusion deepens and is more irresistible.

Many nations have fundamental laws that include two basic features; 1) their visions and aspirations, and 2) limits to power.

Obviously, the founders of nations knew and anticipated how power naturally corrupts, and that only those with the noblest of characters can resist the temptation to exploit power and abuse others. That is why one statesman had said that “power concedes nothing without a demand.”
